New York Park | Paint by Numbers | Paintology Drawing App | #6282

This is a painting of the popular New York park using Paint by Number with the Paintology drawing app that you can do right on your phone or tablet.

As mentioned earlier in my other posts, the landscape is a great way to get into painting and drawing in general since landscape scenes require less accuracy compared to say architecture, faces, animals, objects etc. This is because you don’t have to do the leaves in exactly the same position as what you see or even the trunk of the trees. You have some leeway into how you want it to look and this gives you a sense of empowerment over your drawing and painting. In actual fact, if you really want to get into painting and drawing, there is nothing better than starting with landscapes. Like many other great artists of our time, the landscape was a very passionate subject for painting in the likes of Constable, Monet, Turner, Cezanne.

Once you have got to grips with landscapes, you can apply your skills to other subjects like portraits, architecture, animals, and many other subject matter.

I love drawing and painting landscapes, and it’s probably because I can shift my focus away from the actual subject and bring my creativity to bear. Landscapes allow me to tailor my painting/drawing to the way I want it and one can turn the whole painting into a semi-expressionistic painting or even abstract. It would not be surprising to learn that abstract painting was somewhat borne out of the love for landscape painting.

When you do this painting of the New York park, try not to focus on the exact placement of the colors and start with broader colors and then apply the smaller details. It would be helpful for you to keep the featured completed painting that you can refer to it when you paint from the paint by numbers template.

Below you will find the master template of the New York park Paint by Numbers (2274 x 1650). You can print this out and use your traditional pencils or oils, but better still is to do it on your tablet or phone. In this way, you can save your drawing and then print it out once finished. Don’t worry about the screen size of your device, the zoom feature of the app allows you to get right into the details. The app is so versatile, that with just one brush you can even create photo-realistic drawings, check this one out that I did a while ago.
