Phone drawing of Grace Kelly | Paintology app

In this drawing, I use three brush tools to create the drawing of the stunning actress Grace Kelly.

Previously, I kept to one brush tool, but this time, I decided to use the 3 brushes for good reason.

Brush tools used:

• Shade
• Line
• Charcoal

The shade brush tool has a soft effect and some of the dark highlights are not easily rendered like the ‘hardness’ of the line and the charcoal brushes.

You might wander why the charcoal brush, but this purely by choice and experience. I have made many drawings and paintings using the charcoal brush since it does not have a solid effect like the line. You can decide for yourself.

All I can say, is that I was able to achieve the ‘darkness’ and hence contrast to make for a visually appealing drawing.

If you look at the video more closely, you will see I spent a good deal of time getting her left eye. This is most likely that I was trying to rush then anything else.

A lesson learnt: Be patient and work through your drawing trying to understand how the strokes are made.
