You can be more creative with block coloring, as it allows you to pick the regions of colors that are more suited to your interest. Instead of a fixed amount of space for Paint by Numbers, you can make the region of color small or as big as you want. Using a small region with the color picker can enable you to make realistic drawings such as the one posted on the Quora Paintology space.
